Spindle Turning

 

Turning wood can be one of the most instantly gratifying in woodworking and spindle turning can be done with only a few tools. Phil, a true professional when turning, will cover the grinding techniques for the proper angles of parting tools, gouges and skews the basic tool for spindle turning. Also the honing of the edges needed to make clean proper cutting. This is an opportunity to learn the safe correct setup and sequence of cut to create the basics shapes to make beautiful ornamental turnings. Through the practice of making parting, cove and round over cuts will lead to the combination of complex shapes if combined can make up complex turnings for candle sticks, lamps and many more useful ornamental objects.
