| About Beverly |
| Beverly, Massachusetts is a seaside community 25 miles north of Boston. Its shoreline, once known as the gold coast, was the summer playground for this country's elite. President Coolidge, the Cabots and the Lodges all kept estates here. Beverly is known for being the birthplace of the American Navy. It all began within a few hundred yards of this shop, just below "Fish Flake Hill" in the city's historic district. Homes dating back to the 1700's that once belonged to sea captains who started our navy, are just a block away. The waterfront is bustling with activity from both pleasure boaters and commercial fishermen. The drive north along the coastline will provide scenic views of Marblehead, the outer islands, and many public and private beaches. If you have a couple of extra minutes at lunch or in the evening, grab one of the shop's fishing rods and try your luck at the beach just steps away. Maybe striped bass or blue fish will be on the menu! In the evening Beverly can provide you with some entertainment as well. Let the doorman in his tuxedo welcome you to the local Cabot Street Movie House. On Sundays this theater transforms into the internationally known magic show "Le Grand David". You are sure to be mesmerized by this extravaganza. If you're looking for a quiet evening the best library north of Boston is right in town. |
